Through my research, I found that there are several codes and conventions that need to be used in a magazine style radio show. I researched four radio shows in order to find all codes and conventions in magazine style radio show. At the end of all my primary research, I found the following codes and conventions. The codes and conventions are the main features of a magazine style and they include:-
- No dead air (so people do not lose interest in the show)
- Clear loud voice (so people can hear you on radio)
- Have a variety of topics for your target audience (has to be relevant to the target audience)
- Tell your audience what their in stall for
- Make your audience interactive (keep your viewers active and interested)
- Chatty Presenter (to create a happy atmosphere)
In following these codes and conventions, my group would be successful in creating a great show.
Our group worked really hard in creating research for the show, in which I feel our group was successful in doing. We all had sufficient research in our topics that help us in creating the show. We all decided to do research separate topics for our show to combine them for our show. I performed research on TV, by doing secondary research on O.K Magazine. I researched both their Twitter and web address. From this we knew that TV was a common topic among gossips. Subsequently, I performed primary research by conducting an observation on 10 Andrew and then interviewing Angel, as she is a member of our target audience. We then decide to make the topic on Eastenders, due to the hype around the 'Lucy Beale' story-line. We created a VoxPox on this and we got a lot of responses from our target audience. Our second topic, was Cara Delevingne. Franchesca had created sufficient research on her, both primary and secondary. Cara is extremely popular among our target audiences therefore she was a good fit for our show. She then performed primary research by interviewing Carl who also is gossip. We used one story involving her and Karl Lagerfeld as a main story. In addition, our next topic is Gossip facts in which we all produced research on. We all combined our facts to create a topic of facts about Gossips. We discussed the positive and negatives of gossip which then led to our two interviews on teachers who specialized in psychology, Ms Bushay and Mr Whiting, to see their expertise on the negative effects of gossip. We decided to include their opinions on our show to fill up the two interviews that we had needed for show. We made that topic as our outside broadcast. Finally, Josh had performed research on Gaming and one of the biggest selling games of 2014, GTA 5. He researched the game, finding out the new game mode - Heists. He played the game as well so he able to relate to the viewers and give his tips for the game.
