Equipment

We used a Samson GTrack to record our show. The Samson GTrack is a USB microphone which we used to record our studio broadcast. We plug in the the Samson GTrack into a USB port which then allows us record speech from the broadcasters via Audacity. We were able to get a clear sound in using these microphones,

We also use a Tascam portable recorder, in which we use to perform a outside broadcast or interview. It has two microphones for two people to speak at each end. It produced clear quality sounds to be used in our  show. We are then able to get a MP3 version of the recording that we can then put on to Soundcloud as well as Audacity.

Using the recordings we made using the Samson GTrack and Tascam portable recorder, as well as sound effects and songs to to use as background noises. We produced the show using Audacity.

I created a script for the first 30 seconds for our magazine style radio show on gossip. Franchesca is the director, as well as host. Josh created scripts and is a co host. I was the outside broadcaster and the editor of the show.

Franchesca	TV is something that we all love, isn’t it Josh?
Josh	Of course,  TV has everything these days, doesn’t it?
Franchesca	Yeah, Hollyoaks, Eastenders , the list goes on and on.
Josh	It seems that Eastenders is becoming popular by the day. Especially with their storylines.
Franchesca	There is always have something to talk about. Especially with the 'Who Killed Lucy Beale' storyline.
Josh	Social media went crazy thinking who killed Lucy. There was more bets on who killed Lucy than on the 2014 Champions League Final.
Franchesca	It is getting more interesting before we get to the actual date of when it is revealed. Get social with us on social media and tell us your opinion on who killed Lucy

Now onto our next topic…. Drum roll please…. Grand theft auto 5 or in other words GTA 5!  The game that was the best-selling console video game of 2013 in North America, Latin America and Europe combined. Even now GTA 5 is at its peak in female and male players from teenagers to grown adults. Now, what everyone is talking about is GTA Online Heists which has just come recently and already it has become the main attraction to GTA Online. There are 5 heists in total however for each there are a series of set ups required to be able to play the heists. In my opinion, my favourite heist is the Pacific Bank heist but only due to the fact you get the most money. What are your views on this newest update to GTA online? Franchesca	They are one of the most iconic pairings in the fashion industry: the hottest model of the moment and one of the most unique designers of all time
Josh	But it seems that even though they have had several successful projects together, and she stars In many of his campaigns, Karl Lagerfeld does not think his model Cara Delevingne to be ‘beautiful’.
Franchesca	This is extremely ironic as she is one of the unique model in 21st century
Josh	In a recent interview with the Guardian he said: “she is not a standout beauty. Was it Sir Francis Bacon who said, ‘There is no beauty without some strangeness in the proportions.”
Franchesca	Cara often gets away with her quirky style and personality, she’s young enough. However, Karl thinks that after the age of 25 you need to be more careful.
Josh	He says, ”To be sloppy after 25 is a problem. You have to be really fresh to wear stuff that doesn’t look fresh.” We’d love to hear what you guys think about what Karl said, so voice your opinions on our Facebook page.

Gossip, gossip and more gossip. In this day and age, gossip has become part of everyday life whether its gossip about a friend or some leaked gossip about a celebrity. Do you want to know some facts about gossip? Of course you do! Fact number one - did you know 10% of gossip is deliberate false gossip? Fact number two- did you know men generally gossip about politics, work and women whereas women gossip about emotions, feelings and other women but both women and men gossip about sex, social status and money? Last fact coming up- did you know 55% of mens conversations is gossip whereas 67%of women is gossip. Wow that means more than half of male and female conversations are gossip.Woah!

Initial production

Our production had included us creating multiple tracks as well as which help us be able to distinguish with other tracks and avoid confusion with other tracks. This helped us know what track were which, which we would be able to edit/delete certain tracks. This lead to a stable an efficient work flow of the radio show.

Here you can see that one of the tracks had be named 'josh intro' so we were able to know which recording had been done by Josh for the introduction, therefore we could not confuse the recordings between Franchesca and Josh.

Some of the recordings that we had recorded did not have adequate volume to heard over the background music that we had used. As a result of this, we used the 'Envelope Tool' in order to make the sound louder. Using the tool, the sound was now sufficient and could now be heard. The tool allowed us to edit the sound, to make sure it was suitable for the show.

Here, we use the Envelope tool, to the edit the intro. When recorded, it was not at a adequate volume in which it could be barely heard from the background music. We decided to use the envelope tool as a quicker resource instead of recording the intro again.  

In addition we used external several sounds in order to be used in our blog. An example was going to be sound effect that we could use to transition through different topics in our show. We decided to use a 'woosh' sound and we downloaded the sound from freesound.org. 

            

We used the 'woosh' sound so the transition to other topics which kept the show more professional and not have our viewers become confused. When we downloaded the sound, we opened a Audacity file of the sound which allowed us to copy/paste the sound straight onto our show. 

I also downloaded songs to be used in the intro and over the Vox Pox. I found a instrumental version for each song and recorded using Audacity. Then I would copy/paste to the show and use it in the relevant space where the song was needed.

In here, I recorded the instrumental of 6PM in New York by Drake using WASAPI on Audacity which records sounds straight from what is being played. This then allowed me to get a sufficient amount of the song we need to cover the whole of the instrumental. We did this again, with the Vox Pox using the song 'More Than A King' by Kid Ink. The songs allowed our show to be more professional by avoiding any dead air on our show.
